The Commission for Fire Protection District # 1 Blandford announces a Special Ratepayer's Meeting to be held on January 23, 2012 starting at 8:00 pm at the Blandford Community Center Lodge Room. The purpose of this special meeting is to elect candidates to fill two vacancies on the Commission. There is a storm date set for January 30, 2012.Please see meeting announcement.
The Commission for Fire Protection for Blandford & District 1 would like to thank everyone who came out to our Appreciation Breakfast on October 15. It was an opportunity to thank Blandford & Area Fire Rescue members, the Auxiliary, local businesses that employ firefighters and support them answering calls during the work day, mutual aid fire departments in Hubbards & Chester and the Municipality of Chester for everything they do for our community. And in lieu of admission, donations at the door for the IWK Hospital Burn Unit totalled $868.00. Thank you and congratulations!
Thank you as well to the Blandford Community Centre volunteers and the Two Bays 4H Club for preparing and serving a delicious breakfast.
In the September 2011 issue of the Commissioner's Corner, Commission Chairperson, Mike McDonagh-Harnish, discusses our move to governance under the Rural Fire District Act, revisions to our Terms of Reference and a plan to communicate updates as we move through this restructuring.
